80th Independence Day: 1,057 police, fire and correctional personnel receive gallantry, service medals

Over one thousand personnel received Gallantry and Service Medals this Independence Day. Gallantry Medals recognized exceptional courage and actions in critical situations. Many gallantry awards went to personnel serving in Left Wing Extremism-affected areas. President's Medals for Distinguished Service honored special records in their respective fields. Meritorious Service Medals acknowledged valuable service marked by devotion to duty.
