Drug testing college students: IITs, IIMs begin with voluntary urine tests at admission

Part of government mission to screen 10 lakh students at 170 central higher education institutes by 2029; under a framework provided by National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre, the test is meant to be confidential, cannot result in any ‘negative repercussions on the students taking it whatsoever’, and should be kept for counselling purposes only
